Content Optimization For Strategy

It’s Not Just What You Say, It’s How You Say It

You can be delivering regular and consistent content, but if you are not addressing what the reader wants or needs to see, you won’t grab and keep his attention. Your efforts are wasted. Through your use of the digital marketplace including SEO, SEM, social media and video, you can attract not only your current clients, or viewers, but also catch new ones.

What’s Already Popular?

View what pages and/or products have been visited most and least. This teaches you a lot about your customers’ interests. It can help you make some decisions regarding what and how to promote some of your other products or services.

Writing for SEO

According to Neil Patel, one of the biggest challenges that bloggers and content marketers face is writing content that’s optimized for search engines, yet will also appeal to people. No doubt! There is SO much content out there.

Use bullet points, a quick and easy read as to what the reader will get, and:

  • Expectations over RealityExpectation vs RealityUse catchy, short headlines. If we had written our headline for this blog as This is What You Need to Do to Attract More Attention to Your Website, you may not have been as driven to come and read it.
  • The first few lines are key! You have to write unique content that grabs the reader from the start. Otherwise, you will be lost to them.
  • Use attractive, concise keywords that promote quality, grab the targeted audience, and are optimized for the best results.

What attracts digital readership is the short, quick way of learning about something. Internet users are not looking for long drawn out explanations.

Using SEM tags

SEM, or search engine marketing, is language picked up by search engines such as Google and Bing. Individual words, or very short phrases, that represent your product or page are key for you to rise to the top of those search engines.

For example, if you use the word “shoe” for SEM, you’ll get men and women looking for men’s shoes, women’s shoes, children’s shoes, dress shoes, athletic shoes, high heels, pumps, slippers, etc.

But, if you use “women’s athletic shoes,” you have narrowed the field. You will have a better chance of rising to the top of a search and being noticed by women looking for athletic shoes.

Social Media

In an article by Warren Jolly, The 6 Most Effective Types of Social Media Advertising in 2018, he claims there is only one form of marketing that brings “consistent sales from day one: social media advertising.”

No doubt. Social media is a huge part of today’s marketing strategies. Why? Everybody uses it. The key is, however, to determine what platform(s) of social media are key to your market niche. Different age groups prefer different social media.

According to a Forbes article, Social Media Matters for Baby Boomers, the number of Baby Boomers using the internet increases every day and they utilize at least one social media account. Those preferred by this age group – Facebook and LinkedIn.

In contrast, while Millennials also enjoy LinkedIn and Facebook, they tend to trend more toward YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, and Twitter according to another Forbes article.

When considering which social media platform to use, consider the age group you are trying to attract.

Should you be Using Video?

We mentioned YouTube as a social media platform. According to MerchDope’s 37 Mind-Blowing YouTube Facts, Figures and Statistics – 2018, close to 5 billion YouTube videos are watched daily. Remembering this is a worldwide average, you can still see the benefits of video. Creating your own, personal video content for your website will also increase your views, especially when servicing them with the right SEM tags.

Another Alternative in Looking for New Web Visitors

A product, such as Adobe Target, can help you in finding “the individual in the haystack,” as Adobe advertises. It will not only help you define like-minded individuals but also help you cater to their needs based on their previous behavior.

No doubt, people young and old are turning to the web to meet their shopping needs in most any market from apparel to home goods, food to pet food, business opportunities and outside service help. Consider not only what you say, but how you want that expressed to help generate more of the visitors and customers you seek. Call SocialSEO today to help meet your digital marketing needs!
