Here's a recent snapshot of what we provided to a recent client. It's amazing all of the endless server issues, redirects, loops, and loss traffic problems plaguing some large websites. Most of these reports we send to clients average about 20-30 pages of in-depth data on problem areas. Under all of the items in the analysis we provide detailed advice on how to resolve issues. Here is the "table of contents" of a recent SEO Analysis we sent.

Section 1: Site Architecture & Server Related
  • Robots.txt 301 Redirecting For SE’s
  • Linking to Dynamic (Non-Rewritten) URLs
  • Self-Linking via Direct Links & 301 Redirects
  • Endless Redirect Loops
  • Consistency of URL use
  • Custom Error pages (404, 500)
  • Duplicate Pages
  • Internal Duplicate Content
  • Further Exclusions for Robots.txt
Section 2: Search Engine Index Status
  • Search Engine-Specific URLs Issues - Yahoo, MSN, Google, Ask
Section 3: On-page & In-code Optimization
  • META & TITLE Tags
  • External .css for Cascading Style Sheet
  • External .js for Javascript

We end the reporting with a complete analysis of the website's stats and make recommendations on everything from lost traffic to building better brands or services to website visitors.

Over the last few months we've handled some SEO consulting for several dozen large websites and I believe that reporting like the above (regardless of what anyone thinks), is extremely important for the website's overall vitals.

Do you find that this much

Do you find that this much information might overwhelm the client?

On one hand I think it shows the client how thorough and professional your company is.

On the other hand I bet they zone out half way through and the rest is over their head.

I recently posted on Making Website Statistics Meaningful which explains how you can easily confuse your clients.
