The Best Free Article Syndication Sites

This list below just goes to show that there is more than an overflow of places to submit your article online. Some think they should submit their web site to all of these places just because they exist. But, doing so wastes time and effort. So, I'll narrow down the list and tell you which ones are of value and how to go about making sense of it all.

The current PageRank of some of these sites is likely to be different.

Now, from this massive (and I'm sure partial) list of article repositories, here are the ones to focus on:

http://goarticles.com/
http://www.ezinearticles.com/
http://www.freewebarticles.com/
http://www.certificate.net/wwio/ideas.shtml
http://www.ideamarketers.com/

and

http://www.isnare.com/

I'm sure that squeezing a couple more or trading out a few would be ok, but the goal should be narrowing down to only a few. Submitting to 180-200 article repositories isn't a good thing to do - so don't believe the hype. It wastes time and untimately only one (posibly two) locations where the original article is submitted will count in search engines since the article is essentially duplicated across dozens or more article respositories. It follows the whole duplicate content theory which is very much alive and will continue to be.

My advice to webmasters and companies syndicating articles is to rewrite the same article up to three times using different wording in each one, different anchor text, and different landing pages. This will go further than coming up with unique articles each time you want to syndicate an article. Since the hardest part is coming up with ideas and writing the article, it shouldn't be too hard to rewrite your thoughts and change up the copy each time.

Also, a good content syndication campaign should consist of press releases for news worthy content and link building the old fashioned way through directories like Dmoz and Yahoo. Almost any industry needs an amped up link building campaign though. Getting links through blogs, paying for text ads on targeted sites, and even forums and social network linking should all come into play here.

Some suggestions regarding article submission

When submitting articles make sure that, the site allows HTML (more important are links) in atleast Article or Author Bio. This will help in placing a backlink. Secondly prefer those websites which makes your article page as an HTML page. This will help indexing your Article page fast among the search engines since search engines read html pages more quickly.

Thanks.

Do these really hold any value

Sounds awfully spammy to me. I can't say I've ever seen any of these articles from an organic search.

I imagine most of them to be blacklisted by Google.

Or am I sadly mistaken?

Blacklisted articles

There are lot of articles submited to many sites, but they are not blacklisted, they help in your position and in raising PR as you get backlinks.

I have added my article to 500 article sites. The same article was submitted to different sites and is ranking well now. No blacklisting issues at all.

Is it just because of duplicate content error or something else? I also read "Kitchen Tools" comment and I am little confuse.

Good list of articles.

This is a good list and a article! But this is just one step in a few. You create the article or 3 as indicated in this post and submit out to the article directories. But that's not it.

Then take that article and bookmark the page at the social bookmarking sites. Then take the article and break it up and create a squidoo lens with it. Then do the same thing at hubpages. Then take the article and do a simple powerpoint/camtasia video of it and submit it to the video directories. Then extract out your audio and submit to the audio/podcast directories.

Don't just stop at the article directories, take it further and multiply your efforts with the additional steps.

Thanks, Preston Rahn

We prefer niche sites that publish articles

Do you think articles published on industry sprecific sites with lower PR carry more value that generic article directories with higher PR?

Daniel Shilina's picture

re: niche sites

Yes, this is correct. Submitting an article to a specific niche site carries much more value than submitting to just any article site. Pagerank does not matter and should be forgotten in my opinion.

Article Syndication

To avoid the duplicate content all you have to do is publish your article on your own website for a week or so and the search engines will remember where they saw the article first. After this submit it anywhere you want and always have a backlink pointing back to the exact page where the article appears on your site. Your site will not be penalized for duplicate content then and if the backlink is followed it will actually be recognized as a quality and relevant backlink which will boost your ranking all the more too.

Thanks For the Help

Julia,

Thanks for the list. We are just starting some link building for a new tool to help companies select the best outsourcing location for IT & BPO work ( http://www.offshoreadvisor.com/TopOutsourcingCountries.html ) and this should prove very helpful in identifying the best sites for article syndication.

Thanks,

Mike

Just wanted to clear this up

Hi all,

I have noticed that throughout the comments on this page, there have been some questions over the validity of article marketing and the best approaches to take when submitting articles - as such, here are my recommendations:
1.) Hit the biggest sites first, and make minor modifications where appropriate to try and give your article a unique feel. It may be best to have a really comprehensive version of the article for sites like Ezines, with a shorter variant for some of the spammier article sites.
2.) Download an SEO toolbar for firefox, like the SEOmoz toolbar so you can see whether or not links on sites are search engine friendly. There's a handy button called "Show Nofollows" that shows you instantly whether a link is providing you with search engine value or not. Be careful not to submit to sites that don't give your links credibility.
3.) Have a look at your competitors sites - are any of their articles showing up in search results? Have a quick look.
4.) You can get a broad overview of your incoming links by visiting Yahoo! and typing link:www.example.com - this will show many of the sites that are linking to you. If you are targetting a specific search phrase, you can contact these sites and request that they change the way they link to you.

Thanks, hope this helps you on your article marketing / seo journey.
