Is Google Syndicated Search in the Pipeline?
On September 15th it was discovered that Google was purchasing variations of domains related to "syndicated search." Here is a list of the domain names Google acquired:
google-syndicated-search.com/net/org
google-syndicatedsearch.com/net/org
googlesindicatedsearch.com/net/org
googlesyndicated-search.com/net/org
googlesyndicatedsearch.com/net/org
googlesyndicatesearch.com/net/org
syndicatedgooglesearch.com/net/org
syndicatedsearchgoogle.com/net/org
wwwgooglesyndicatedsearch.com/net/org
wwwsyndicatedsearchgoogle.com/net/org
ZDnet reports that "Google Blog Search could be the recipient of a new name (something similar to Google Syndicated Search), or they are working on a separate service to aggregate all RSS/Atom feeds it can find — not necessarily just blogs."
Many sites already allow an "Open Search" format such as flickr, New York Times, Wikipedia, imdb and more. It'll be interesting to see if Google announces something within the coming weeks about a their recent frenzy with syndicated search domains.
