Create Some Buzz for St. Jude Children's Hospital!
My wife recently shared with me a web site about an amazing little boy named Ethan Powell she had found through a YouTube video. Ethan Powell has leukemia and is being treated at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Here's a snapshot from their site where he's checking out his daddy's new 'do.' He's a cute one!

Here's the video on YouTube that my wife first shared with me as well:
Being a daddy of two little ones myself - Alek, 3 1/2 years old and Amelia, nearly 11 months old - I can't help but to get a little choked up and think of my little ones while reading about Ethan's journey. My wife and I are definitely fortunate in this world to have two such amazing and healthy little angels in our lives.
Of course, being an SEO by trade, I can't help but to also think of what we - online marketers, SEO's, and bloggers could do to help fight against these potentially deadly diseases such as leukemia. The number one thing I know we can do: raise awareness.
So, I decided to write this post to raise awareness and hopefully get many more marketing folks, SEO's, and bloggers on board to spread the word and think about giving a little to help to St. Judes hospital. St. Jude performs groundbreaking and life-saving research and therapies each year for children and, from everything I've been reading, helps to treat children even if the parents or insurance companies can't necessarily pay for treatment. So any donation counts significantly!
If You'd Like to Help, Here's How:
- Go to St. Jude web site and inform yourself about what they are doing for children.
- If you feel that you could give a little bit to help St. Jude help children like Ethan Powell and others, click on the "donate" link at the top of their site.
- If you don't feel like giving for whatever reason, that's fine. If you choose not to, then would you consider a small prayer for Ethan and the other children at St. Jude? Prayers are what Ben Powell, Ethan's dad, really hopes for anyway.
- Link to or help any children's organization you feel strongly about helping. St. Jude (http://www.stjude.org/) is our choice, but that's not to say that other children's hospitals are less deserving than St. Jude in any way.
Notes: If you decide to link anywhere, please link to the YouTube video or Ethan's site as noted above. I'm sure that our contributions and/or prayers can help Ethan and other children even more. I hope that the word can spread virally and marketers, bloggers, and SEO's can create their own buzz to help out all of these children who have to face unfortunate circumstances.
God bless Ethan and his family. Our family's prayers are with you and Ethan's improving health.

I'm not sure if I’ve
I'm not sure if I’ve missed what you are saying here. Are you saying SEOs should link out to good causes to help them out or give them some of their corporate wads? Linking to them is certainly a good idea that I hadn't really thought of before.
Unfortunately not all of us web people have enough to be able to give away to anyone else. I believe that a lot of problems are caused by manipulation and thus can be alleviated by education and removing the root cause rather than just throwing money at it because some jet-set celebrity oil-millionaire-politician at a pop concert says we should. No fingers pointing at Al Gore.
The best I can help out with is a stumble.
Was just wanting to spread the word, that's all
Hi David,
I was simply just asking for any support or prayers for St. Jude and Ethan. That is such a great hospital and the last I checked they use around $0.85 of every dollar for treatment research and funding.
Yes, you're probably right. A lot of people may not have enough money to give. That's perfectly fine. I'm sure a small prayer would be appreciated by Ethan and his family. It's people like that in this world that puts things into perspective - at least for me.
I'm not sure I followed your other comments about Al Gore, jet-set celebrities, and how that relates to St. Jude hospital though?
Selling quality hand made items and donate proceeds to St.Judes?
Does anyone know how I can personally donate proceeds from hand made items that I sell at Arts and crafts shows, flea markets, privately, etc? I am most interested in speaking with others who do the same thing. I would like to advertise that my proceeds or a percentage of them will go to St. Jude Research and hospital.
From my Heart,
Carol

I own a business and would like to put out folders for people to put money in and sell my produce with some of the funds going to St. Judes. I have 11 grandchildren and have been very lucky in life to have them all well. Please e-mail me and tell me how to go about this.
